TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Race to End Women’s Cancer

On Sunday, November 3, 2019, the Race to End Women’s Cancer will take place in the District of Columbia. In conjunction with this event, there will be several street closures that motorists should take into consideration:

The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic and posted as Emergency No Parking for the event from approximately 12:01 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.:

400 block of 13th Street, NW
Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 12th and 14th Street, NW

The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic and posted as Emergency No Parking for the event from approximately 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.:

Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 9th and 12th Street, NW

The following streets will be closed for the event from approximately 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.:

12th Street, NW between E Street and Constitution Avenue, NW
11th Street, NW between E Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
10th Street, NW between E Street and Constitution Avenue, NW

The following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and closed from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for the race:

Street Closing – RACE ROUTE

START: Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 11th and 12th Streets, NW
Proceed East on Pennsylvania Avenue NW to 3rd Street NW
Turn South onto 3rd Street NW
Turn West onto Independence Avenue on the North side
Proceed to 7th Street and the turnaround at 7th Street & Independence Avenue
Proceed Eastbound on the South side of Independence Avenue SW to 4th St SW;
Turn South on 4th Street SW and proceed to D Street SW;
Turn East on D Street SW
Turn North on 3rd Street SW
Continue North on 3rd Street SW/NW to Pennsylvania Avenue NW.
Turn West onto Pennsylvania Avenue NW
FINISH: Proceed to Pennsylvania and 12th Street NW and disband

All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.

The public should expect parking restrictions along the street and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. All vehicles that are parked in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed.

Motorists could encounter possible delays if operating in the vicinity of this event and may wish to consider alternative routes. The Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Department of Transportation also wishes to remind motorists in the vicinity of this event to proceed with caution as increased pedestrian traffic can be anticipated.
