Mayor Bowser Weekly Press Guidance for Monday, November 18, 2019 to Sunday, November 24, 2019

On Monday, Mayor Bowser will participate in a fireside chat with George Washington University School of Business students to make the business case for DC statehood, as well as discussing various economic development initiatives. Later, the Mayor will officiate the swearing-in ceremony for hundreds of new appointees and reappointed members to District boards, commissions, and task forces.
On Tuesday, Mayor Bowser will announce the recipients of more than $2 million in grants aimed at improving birth outcomes and maternal and child health.
On Wednesday morning, Mayor Bowser will discuss efforts for a safer, stronger DC with the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. That afternoon, Mayor Bowser will convene a meeting of the DC Statehood Commission.
On Thursday, Mayor Bowser and the DowntownDC BID will host a Hypothermia Pledge and Awareness event for community partners to pledge to help identify and assist neighbors outside in cold conditions and to raise awareness about services available during the winter months for individuals experiencing homelessness.
On Friday, Mayor Bowser will welcome the first residents of the new Residences at St Elizabeths, which, at completion, will deliver more than 200 affordable apartments to the historic campus in Ward 8’s Congress Heights neighborhood. Later, the Mayor will break ground on the Senior Residences at Southern Avenue in Ward 8, which will deliver 158 homes to low-income seniors who would otherwise be unable to afford assisted living.
On Saturday, Mayor Bowser will cut the ribbon on the rehabilitated Monroe Street Bridge as the District continues its years-long effort to make critical infrastructure structurally sufficient.
