Mayor Bowser to Highlight New Investments to Expand Community and School-Based Mental Health Supports

(Washington, DC) – On Friday, October 4, at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will be joined by Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) officials to highlight new investments to expand school-based mental health services and to provide 24-hour services to residents experiencing psychiatric emergencies, trauma, or mental health and substance use disorders through a new community response team (CRT). Following the speaking program, Mayor Bowser will enter DBH’s outpatient mental health facility and tour the second floor of the CRT Offices.

For Fiscal Year 2020, Mayor Bowser increased her investment in School-Based Behavioral Health Expansion from $3 million to $9 million, bringing the program to 119 schools in School Year 2019-2020.
